Every year
Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC (GD) Exam to recruit candidates for the
post of Constable (GD) in various departments who are in need of such security
officers namely, BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA and SSF and Rifleman in Assam
Rifles. The difficulty level has been raised for the last few years as more
than 30 lacs candidates apply for about thousand of posts. Though the
eligibility criterion is 10th standard yet the question paper has a
difficulty level to meet the requirements of the competition. If someone is
really inclined to ace SSC (GD) Exam in the first attempt then one has to
follow a well-knitted study plan.
Effective Study Tips to prepare for
SSC (GD) 2018 EXAM
Study plan becomes effective if one
knows what to study and which topics are important from the examination point

in the SSC (GD) Exam 2018.
The selection process of SSC (GD) is
easy to qualify with four stages these are:

The
written exam will be held online carrying 100 marks of two hours duration. Each
section will have 25 questions. The topics included in the sections of question
paper of SSC GD Exam
syllabus are
(i) General Intelligence & Reasoning
(ii) English/ Hindi Language
(iii)
Elementary Mathematics
(iv)
General Knowledge & General Awareness
Each
question will carry 1 Mark. All the topics are important therefore one should
concentrate on all of them to qualify the exam in the very first attempt.
a. General Intelligence and Reasoning
This topic
is very scoring but needs lot of practice and focus. Reasoning questions can be
solved quickly as compared to other topics. One needs concentration and proper
guidance while preparing for the exam. The topics to give more importance can
be analyzed by going through previous year question papers.
Some of
the topics according to the survey conducted for the relevant purpose are: Semantic
Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Semantic Classification,Venn Diagrams,
Symbolic/Number Classification, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and
completion, Number Series, Coding and de-coding, Problem Solving.
b. English/
Hindi Language
Language section stands an important
place in any exam. Candidates should be proficient in the language to score
well in the exam. Every point matters a lot in the rank building. If you
qualify and do not get a good rank then you will not have a department of your
choice. DREAM BIG AND WORK HARD!!!
Topic to
focus are Comprehension and Cloze Test.
These are time consuming questions therefore practice them a lot to acquire
speed and accuracy. It will help you solve the questions in less time and you
can devote more time to the difficult sections like Mathematics.
Besides comprehension and cloze test
there are other topics to be focused which are based on the grammar knowledge
these are: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words,
Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution.
For those
who will opt Hindi languge the topics to be focused are :
पर्यायवाची,
विलोम, तत्सम एवं तदभव, अलंकार, रस, समास, सन्धियां, वाक्य संशोधन – लिंग, वचन, कारक, वर्तनी, त्रुटि से सम्बंधित अनेकार्थी शब्द, वाक्यांशों के लिए शब्द निर्माण, लोकोक्तियाँ एवं मुहावरे.
c. Elementary
Mathematics
Mathematics is difficult and complex
but can be scoring if prepared with proper planning and lot of practice. This
section is another place to score well and get a better rank for final
selection. Generally this section needs more time than other sections therefore
try to solve other sections quickly so that you can save time to solve
mathematics questions.
There are some selected topics which
needs to be mastered such as Profit and Loss, Relationship between numbers,
Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and
Compound), Time and distance, Decimal and Fractions, Time and work, Use of
Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon.
d. General
Awareness
This is the most unpredictable
sections of the SSC Classes in Chandigarh. The questions are asked in a way to analyze your
presence of mind and general knowledge in various subjects. For the last few
years SSC is asking more questions on General Science topics therefore one can
focus on General Science while preparing for the exam. It does not mean that
one should neglect other subjects like History, Geography, Polity, Economy,
Current Affairs. All the topics are touched in the question paper therefore do
not take any chance by doing selective study. In SSC (GD) Exam very less
questions are asked from Current Affairs which makes it easy to crack for the
candidates. Choose the answer wisely and thoughtfully as each error will be
penalized by a negative marking. After going through the tips given above one
is sure to get good and fruitful outcomes as these are based on the extensive
